Tell us a little about yourself, and how you spend you free time

In my free time I enjoy doing crafty things like painting, knitting, crocheting and making jewelry! I also enjoy playing games and going to the movies with my wonderful husband!

What is your day job, and how did you get there?

During the day I am a residence clinician working with adults with mental illness. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in clinical/counseling psychology and my Master’s in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in children and adolescents.  I’m currently going back to school to finish classes and work toward earning my license.

What led you to crafting?

It all started when my aunt and the awesome owner of Eastern Dance Supply taught me to knit!  From there I took art classes in high school where I developed my drawing and painting skills. For a very long time, every time I went into a craft store for sketchbooks or yarn I would walk past the bead isle and think about how I wished I knew how to make bracelets and pretty things. While I was earning my Master’s I worked in retail behind a jewelry counter and I found myself looking around at all the pretty pieces and thinking to myself, “I bet I could make things like this!” So I bought myself a book about jewelry making basics and went from there!

How long have you been crafting?

I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil, knitting since about middle school, I started making jewelry about four or five years ago and I learned to crochet about three years ago.

What inspires you when you are coming up with designs?

Craft stores are a good place to go look through materials and see what jumps out at me. Talking to Jordan about what direction to go and what kinds of colors to try is great too! Lately I’ve been inspired by things I’ve seen in movies, video games and bead magazines!

What is your favorite piece you have created and why?

Hmm, I think my favorite piece so far is the elephant earrings because I like the colors and they remind me of my sister.

What is your favorite material to use?

I’m really enjoying working with chains!

What are you looking forward to creating next?

Jewelry Boxes!

Where do you hope to be in the future?

I hope to be making more beautiful jewelry and expanding my crafting skills!
